AT&T, MediaFLO announce mobile TV deal
AT&T/Cingular became the latest U.S. operator to sign an agreement with Qualcomm's MediaFLO USA subsidiary, announcing plans to deliver mobile TV services by late 2007. The carrier will time the launch to capitalize on advanced MediaFLO features scheduled to debut in the second half of the year, among them a multicast video clip service, a datacasting app enabling real-time information and entertainment, and audio services.
"MediaFLO USA's service will add another dimension to our robust offering by delivering a TV-quality mobile media experience that perfectly complements our existing voice and multimedia services," said Marc Lefar, chief marketing officer for AT&T's wireless unit, in a prepared statement. "We look forward to bringing our subscribers a compelling, differentiated service and the innovative devices for which AT&T is known."
