AT&T's Hyatt: Napster freebie will drive usage

Tools

More news from CTIA: AT&T's plan to offer free Napster to Go service to customers that buy a music phone and sign up for a two-year service agreement starting April 1, is part of the company's bigger agenda--building consumer awareness of mobile music. Rob Hyatt, AT&T's executive director of entertainment services and strategic partnerships, says the company knows music is a popular concept for consumers, but it's fragmented and difficult to do. By offering the subscription free for a year, Hyatt believes consumers will be more likely to embrace the subscription model and understand the value of mobile music. "We are investing in this because we feel like we can play a role in exposing consumers to this model," Hyatt said in an interview with FierceMobileContent. - Sue
