AT&T tunes in MobiTV for U-verse mobile service

Tools

Light Reading reports mobile broadcast service provider MobiTV is working with AT&T to adapt the carrier's U-verse IPTV service for the wireless platform. MobiTV co-founder and COO Paul Scanlan confirmed the company's rumored involvement in the U-verse initiative, and said MobiTV will contribute its licensed video content to the U-verse programming slate. While a MobiTV spokesman would confirm only that the company is in discussions and trials with AT&T, the carrier confirmed even less, telling Light Reading "We haven't announced any plans, and we continue to test IP-enabled applications in our labs. We've said often that one of the benefits of IP as a platform is that you can bridge content to the three screens, and we are looking for ways to do that."

AT&T/Cingular launched MobiTV's live television service in January 2005, and more recently the carrier announced MobiTV would also power its AT&T Broadband TV service.
