Australia enacts new rules for age-restricted content
The Australian Communications and Media Authority released new rules restricting access to age-restricted digital content accessed via the Internet or mobile phones. The Restricted Access Systems Declaration mandates that Australian service providers verify consumers are at least 15 to access content rated MA15+ or be at least 18 for R18+ content. The new rules also state that after receiving a complaint, the ACMA may demand removal of the content, or institute specified access restrictions. The new rules go into effect on Jan. 20.
