Barnes & Noble upgrades Nook ereader app for iPhone
Bookseller chain Barnes & Noble introduced updated version of its Nook ereader application for Apple's iPhone, promising a revamped user experience incorporating personalization features requested by consumers. According to Barnes & Noble, the upgraded Nook app includes do-it-yourself theme creation tools, content customized for day or night reading, art and text optimized for the iPhone 4's Retina display, font and line spacing adjustments, and in-app content rating options. Nook for iPhone also offers portrait or landscape viewing, along with one-touch access for highlighting, bookmarking or notating a page--in addition, readers can share eligible ebooks via the Nook's LendMe feature, inititating, accepting and deferring lending inside the app.
The Barnes & Noble eBookstore offers more than one million titles, most available for $9.99 or less, with roughly half a million free classics. The store also offers 196 of the 205 current New York Times bestsellers along with thousands of editorial and customer reviews.
