BBC debuts new multiplatform strategy
Speaking at an in-house Multiplatform Day event, British Broadcasting Corporation controller of portfolio and multimedia Simon Nelson announced a new strategy for multiplatform commissioning, content creation and delivery across the BBC Vision platform, including investment in mobile services including television (both clips and broadcast TV), social media and location-based initiatives. The BBC promised to double its investment in multiplatform content over the next three years, spotlighting each television program with its own website, a new suite of user tools for rating and sharing content and improved search and navigation. "It's too easy to dismiss the multiplatform opportunity as simply getting our programs onto new devices or creating websites alongside programs," Nelson said. "We can use the two-way nature of new media platforms to ... collaborate with audiences in the creation of content and participative experiences."
