Bellrock Media acquires Moderati
Digital content provider Bellrock Media will announce its acquisition of mobile media firm Moderati, a reported eight-figure deal that gives Bellrock immediate access to all of the major U.S. wireless operators. Official terms of the transaction were not disclosed. Moderati president Carolynne Schloeder will continue to oversee day-to-day operations of the company, and will become chief operating officer of Bellrock.
Moderati was previously the property of Japanese mobile infrastructure developer Faith Inc., also a minority owner in Bellrock; known as Faith West upon its mid-2002 U.S. launch, Moderati quickly emerged as a major player in the ringtone market, later expanding into full-track downloads, wallpapers and most recently Mobile Faker, a new social interaction service available exclusively from Sprint. Bellrock and Moderati also teamed on branded mobile applications for companies including McDonald's, the Gap and Dodge.
