BET Networks premieres V Cast channel

Tools

Cable network Black Entertainment Television announced an agreement with Verizon Wireless to launch mobile TV services via the operator's V Cast multimedia platform. The urban/African American-themed mobile network will spotlight content from popular BET series including the music video showcase "106 & Park," the docudrama "American Gangster" and stand-up vehicle "BET's Comic View" alongside news and information programming.

"Mobile video distribution is an integral part of our overall digital media strategy as our research clearly indicates that African Americans are both leading consumers of, and have the most enthusiasm for, mobile media," BET Networks chairman and CEO Debra Lee said in a prepared statement. "I'm very excited about our relationship with Verizon Wireless, as I believe our audience's unique demand for mobile content, and our network's content in particular, will allow BET to have an outsized impact on mobile media consumption."
