BlackBerry tops Myxer smartphone content downloads

BlackBerry devices accounted for 72 percent of the 22 milion smartphone content downloads reported by mobile entertainment destination Myxer in March 2010, according to the firm's latest BoomBox mobile entertainment trends report. Android trailed a distant second with 14 percent of Myxer smartphone downloads, followed by Windows Mobile at 7 percent and iPhone at 2 percent. The BlackBerry Curve 8330 was the most popular device, accounting for about 4.8 million downloads alone. In all, BlackBerry phones accounted for 63 percent of mobile user visits to the Myxer platform in March--Android devices represented 17 percent of mobile visits, followed by Windows Moble at 10 percent and iPhone at 4 percent.

Myxer adds that female users are dominant across all BlackBerry devices visiting the site. Women account for 70 percent of all BlackBerry Pearl 8130 users--the BlackBerry Storm boasts the highest concentration of male users at 46 percent.
