BluFocus, NetBlender partner on Blu-ray app for mobile
Blu-ray video solutions providers BluFocus and NetBlender are poised to introduce a new mobile application enabling Blu-ray system owners to transfer downloadable content and interactive features directly from their discs and players to their smartphones. Optimized for devices including Apple's iPhone, Palm's forthcoming Pre and Research In Motion's BlackBerry portfolio, the BD Touch 2.0 app--scheduled to premiere at next week's National Association of Broadcasters conference in Las Vegas--also offers consumers tools to remotely program their Blu-ray players via mobile device. BluFocus founder and CEO Paulette E. Pantoja tells Video Business that Blu-ray developers and consumer electronics companies must add the BD Touch capability to discs and players to allow content transfer to smartphones: "It's just one line of code they have to put in," she said. "We made it extremely, extremely simple."
