Boost Mobile to release text delay fix this week

Sprint's prepaid Boost Mobile division confirms it is working to bolster its network capacity in an effort to solve a spate of text message delays, promising the fix will be in place later this week. The Associated Press first reported that Boost dealers and customers are complaining of widespread texting problems across the firm's network--messages are frequently delayed by several hours, sometimes not reaching recipients until early in the morning, suggesting that Boost is suffering some significant growing pains after introducing a $50 monthly unlimited voice and data plan in February.

In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, Boost spokesperson John Votava confirms the influx of new customers has likely stressed the system and caused the text delays, adding that Boost engineers are currently addressing the problem. "They've assured us we will have a fix in place...specifically by May 7th," Votava said. "We've received comments from customers via our Facebook page, and we've had a few vocal customers on the site who were complaining about it and who have since changed their tune, saying that their service has been stellar in the last few days."
