Borqs closes $17.4 million Series B round

Open-source mobile application software provider and integrator Borqs announced the close of a $17.4 million Series B round led by Norwest Venture Partners, with additional contributions from existing investors GSR Ventures and Keytone Ventures. Borqs develops Android-based client-side software products for mobile service providers, promising operators the tools to create a consistent and branded user interface experience spanning across different types of smartphones. The firm also assists carriers in creating branded application storefronts that draw on software available in Google's Android Marketplace as well as existing Java-based apps.
