Buongiorno buys iTouch for $191.7M

Tools

Italian mobile content conglomerate Buongiorno rapidly is expanding its reach through the acquisition of iTouch, a South African firm specializing in mobile entertainment distribution. iTouch distributes content in 23 countries and has access to more than 500 million mobile subscribers. The firm was acquired by For-side.com in Japan in June 2005 and now is privately held following a management buyout in February. Current investors in iTouch are Oak Investment Partners and Goldman Sachs.

Buongiorno, as you may recall, purchased Rocket Mobile in August 2006. Rocket Mobile is a well-known BREW partner that recently gained notoriety for its Song ID application that is being heavily marketed by Verizon Wireless.
