Location-sensitive city guide and social network buzzd announced the launch of a downloadable application optimized for BlackBerry smartphones and available via the BlackBerry App World storefront. The free BlackBerry app promises editorially-driven event and venue information from content partners including Citysearch, Flavorpill, Time Out, MyOpenBar, last.fm, Clubvibes and Upcoming.org, as well as consumer reviews and ratings--users may browse and search continuously updated event feeds, which include pricing, location and event details. New features in buzzd's BlackBerry app include Live Search, autodetection of location and proximity-based event recommendations, map integration and click-to-call venues, as well as update integration with Twitter. The buzzd app is compatible with smartphones running on BlackBerry OS 4.2 and higher.

In October 2008, buzzd was one of the first three firms to secure investment from the BlackBerry Partners Fund, the $150 million venture capital fund launched to promote applications and services across Research In Motion's BlackBerry device portfolio. According to buzzd, the new BlackBerry application is a direct result of that partnership.
