Cars.com launched a mobile version of its automotive website in conjunction with content management services company Crisp Wireless, offering consumers on-the-go access to vehicle listings, research tools and buying advice. Users may search Cars.com's inventory of two million new and used vehicles, complete with photos--features also include listings from Kelley Blue Book's Used Car Values, a calculator to determine vehicle payments and automotive news and reviews from the website's blog, KickingTires. In addition, the service features a local auto dealer locator with maps and directions to the dealership and click-to-call functionality.

According to Cars.com, a recent survey indicates 30 percent of its users said they would access the new mobile site from the dealer lot. "Eighty percent of today's car shoppers turn to the web to do research at some point in the buying process," said Cars.com director of product management Sharon Knitter in a prepared statement. "With wireless web access on the rise, Cars.com sees an opportunity to bring those shoppers practical applications they can use while out shopping for a car. We have found that purchasing a car is still a shopping process where people need to visit a dealer to see and test-drive the vehicle. With Cars.com mobile, shoppers can now take the information found on Cars.com with them, giving them more confidence when they sit down to make their final purchase."
