China Mobile, Apple break off iPhone negotiations

China Mobile officials said talks between the operator and computing giant Apple to launch the iPhone in China have ended. "We can only say that negotiations have ended for now. We have no other news to report," said China Mobile spokesperson Li Honghui, declining further comment--however, Chinese web portal Sina.com reports the two firms could not agree on revenue-sharing terms, with China Mobile refusing to accept Apple's demands for a 20 percent to 30 percent share of iPhone user fees. The smart money suggests Apple will now launch negotiations with rival China Unicom.
