China Mobile: Still no formal iPhone talks
China Mobile and Apple have yet to commence formal negotiations to add the computing giant's iPhone device to the operator's product portfolio, with China Mobile chairman Wang Jianzhou citing questions about business models and commercialization for the delay. "Our door will remain open as long as there is customer demand," said Wang while speaking Saturday at the 2008 Boao Forum for Asia. According to Wang, China Mobile now boasts subscriber totals in excess of 380 million, roughly 30 percent of the Chinese population overall--he added that more than 200 subscribers have used their devices to download music.
