Chinese operator giant Chungwa Telecom announced a mobile search pact with web services kingpin Yahoo. The non-exclusive agreement extends for one year. "This is a service that will give users a faster search function on their phones," Chunghwa Telecom mobile business group vice president Lin Jen-Hon told Dow Jones Newswires.

In related Yahoo news, the firm announced its Yahoo Mobile service is now available in nine additional countries--Singapore, Malaysia, Taiwan, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Spain and Italy--and 100 more devices worldwide. Yahoo Mobile now extends across 17 markets in the Americas, Europe and Asia and supports more than 400 devices, including Apple's iPhone.
