Clear Channel's iheartradio app surpasses 2M downloads
Broadcasting behemoth Clear Channel Radio announced its iheartradio mobile application has surpassed the 2 million download benchmark. According to Clear Channel, iheartradio reigned for 10 days as the most downloaded application in the BlackBerry App World storefront and has remained in the top 20 since launch--in addition, it consistently ranks among the top five free music applications for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch.
While a recent study issued by iPhone analytics firm Pinch Media indicates that consumers stop using the average iPhone app almost immediately, Clear Channel reports that 80 percent of iheartradio users have downloaded subsequent updates of the app from the iTunes App Store, and a full 20 percent who download the app come back weekly. In addition, CC says iheartradio users average 99 minutes of listening per week--in January, a Magid Associates report contended that users spend an average of 39 minutes weekly with all mobile apps.
