CNN introduces premium iPhone news app

Broadcast news giant CNN announced the introduction of an interactive iPhone application promising a visually-driven approach to on-the-go headline consumption. The CNN App (priced at $1.99) features live breaking news video, push notification, localization and personalization tools, user-generated content capture and upload functionality through iReport, and more--according to CNN, users can flick through categories including Top Stories, World, U.S., Politics, Crime, Entertainment, Health, Travel, Tech and Living, with each article offering bulleted highlights to enable quick scanning. In addition, users can share stories via email, SMS and Twitter, and use Facebook Connect to post a story directly to their wall. The app also features both live streaming video directly from CNN.com Live as well as on-demand clips from categories like Latest News, Most Popular, On TV, U.S., World, Entertainment, Tech, Offbeat, Politics and Health.
