Compete: Over a third of iPhone users play games daily
Fifty one percent of iPhone users have downloaded five or more games to their smartphone according to marketing intelligence firm Compete's Q1 2010 Smartphone Intelligence survey--by comparison, 46 percent of BlackBerry users have no games on their devices. iPhone owners also play more games than consumers across rival platforms, with 37 percent playing at least daily--Compete adds that puzzle titles capture the majority of users' attention.
The Q1 2010 Smartphone Intelligence survey also spotlights the growing impact of local mobile search--Compete reports that almost one in three smartphone owners has called or stopped into a nearby business after finding it via local search tools. Close to a third of all iPhone and Andorid users discovered at least two new local businesses in Q1 thanks to mobile search applications.
Mobile social networking continues to dominate smartphone behaviors as well. Compete notes that 33 percent of smartphone Twitter users primarily send tweets via their smartphones, with a third of these consumers preferring to read tweets on their phone as well. Among consumers who access Facebook from their smartphones, 66 percent use the device to read news feeds, 60 percent post status updates, 59 percent read/reply to private messages and 44 percent post photos.
