Cox taps Interop for mobile messaging solutions
Cox Communications continues fleshing out its forthcoming wireless services launch, announcing messaging, device management and connectivity gateways solutions provider Interop Technologies will offer core messaging solutions including SMSC (SMS Center) 4 Series, Multimedia Messaging Center (MMSC) and WAP Gateway as well as its hosted Common Short Code (CSC) Gateway. Cox, the third largest cable provider in the U.S., adds it will migrate all of the solutions to Interop's turnkey technology in the near future. "SMS, MMS, short-code messaging and access to the mobile Internet are essential to the Cox customer experience," said Cox's executive director of wireless product development Dane Dickie in a prepared statement.
Earlier this month, wireless solutions provider Qualcomm announced Cox will offer a host of BREW-based mobile applications when its wireless services roll out later this year. According to Qualcomm, Cox subscribers with BREW-enabled handsets will be able to download apps in categories including games, tools, lifestyle, location, messaging and ringtones. Qualcomm will host the BREW service for Cox.
