Digital Chocolate snaps up 'Cake Mania' publisher Sandlot Games

Cross-platform social gaming firm Digital Chocolate has agreed to acquire Sandlot Games, the developer and publisher behind casual titles including Cake Mania, Super Granny, Tradewinds and Westward. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

The Sandlot Games catalog expands across the mobile, handheld, console, online and PC platforms, with fans downloading more than 300 million titles since 2002. Sandlot Games founder and CEO Dan Bernstein will serve as Digital Chocolate's vice president and manage its new Sandlot Studios unit in St. Petersburg, Russia and Bothell, Wash.

Digital Chocolate now boasts more than 100 million social game installs across mobile, the web and Facebook. Its catalog now includes more than 100 titles in all--leading games include Army Attack, Zombie Lane and Millionaire City. Digital Chocolate closed a Series D financing round totaling $12 million in February 2011 and has raised $55.8 million in venture financing since launching in December 2003.
