DirecTV app for iPhone tops 100K downloads in four days

Satellite television provider DirecTV announced its fledgling DVR Scheduler App for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch devices topped the 100,000 download benchmark within four days of its March 30 debut, entering the App Store's Top 10 free apps countdown after one week. According to DirecTV, the free DVR Scheduler App enables subscribers to remotely schedule and record programming on their home DVR, combining the iPhone's multi-touch user interface with an improved search function that promises more efficient program guide browsing by channel or date and time. A related keyword search option enables users to search by actor, title and description, and once a desired program is located, the DVR Scheduler App offers information like air date, duration and description--popular series will also feature images of the cast. Users may schedule programs up to 14 days in advance.
