DirecTV CEO confirms interest in Hulu bid

Tools

DirecTV CEO Michael White confirms the satellite TV provider is one of several potential suitors that could acquire digital video service Hulu from media conglomerates News Corp., Disney and Comcast. White said DirecTV, however, has not formally committed to a Hulu deal and explained that an offer would hinge on programming agreements and other related factors.

"Suffice it to say we have consistently said that we want to make sure that we can make DirecTV available anytime and anywhere our customers want it," White said Thursday. "The Hulu software has some nice aspects to it but you also have to kind of form a judgment about its business model and what you think that business model can generate. So, you know, we look at a lot of things here. And we'll see as we go through that process where we come out."

In July, Bloomberg reported Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) is also considering making a bid to acquire digital video service Hulu, with sources saying the two companies are currently in the early stages of negotiations. Other interested Hulu bidders are said to include Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) and Yahoo. Article
