DirecTV's iPhone scheduler app exceeds 1 million downloads

Satellite television provider DirecTV announced that its free DVR Scheduler application for the iPhone and iPod touch has surpassed the 1 million App Store download benchmark less than a year after its initial release. DVR Scheduler--also available via Google's Android and Palm's webOS platform--enables consumers to remotely program their home DVR; users can search for any television show up to 14 days in advance, browse programs by channel or date and time, access content information including description, length and rating, and record either a single episode or an entire series. According to DirecTV, subscribers remotely scheduled more than 12 million programs last year--the company adds that the DVR Scheduler app is featured in a new national TV campaign. DirecTV now serves more than 18.4 million customers in the U.S., offering more than 200 HD channels.
