Disney mobile web traffic increases 38% in Q1

Disney Interactive Media Group's Disney Online unit says its family-friendly Disney.com mobile website experienced record traffic and user-engagement numbers in the first quarter of 2009, buoyed by recent mobile promotions and unique offerings including the Magical Celebrations Sweepstakes with Disney Parks, the launch of an iPhone/iPod touch version of the site and a mobile tie-in to the Hollywood box-office hit Hannah Montana The Movie.

According to Disney, mobile page views in Q1 increased 38 percent quarter-over-quarter, with SMS messages up nearly 600 percent in the same timeframe. Since launching in late 2007, the mobile site has now streamed over 2 million minutes of audio and generated over 135,000 personalized voicetone greetings from Disney characters. Visitors to the site can also play mobile games and search for local Disney events, concerts, live shows and movie showtimes.
