dotMobi sunrise period extended

The controversial top-level domain for the mobile Internet, dotMobi, has extended its sunrise period for trademark holders wishing to register their brand with a dotMobi Web address. The dotMobi company will reportedly extend the sunrise period, which was set to end August 22, to September 22. Internet statistics provider Ipwalk said the extension is a result of a lack of awareness among brands, but critics say maybe companies know about it but simply don't want to pay for it because they don't need another domain address. The dotMobi top level domain aims to guarantee a fluid experience of Web surfing on the mobile platform by monitoring sites with .mobi addresses for compliance to its guidelines.
