EA Mobile expands 'Madden NFL' to Apple's iPad
Mobile gaming kingpin EA Mobile launched a new version of its iconic Madden NFL franchise optimized for Apple's iPad tablet, touting HD-quality graphics, an exclusive passing wheel and Total Defensive
Control, a new feature promising users greater command over their team's defensive schemes. Priced at $12.99, Madden NFL 11 for iPad also features Quick Play Decisions (including the new GameFlow playbook to boost gameplay momentum), Control the Action and Play Your Way (including Season Mode and Playoffs Mode options). Madden NFL 11 also boasts all 32 National Football League teams in their authentic uniforms and stadiums, featuring more than 2,000 real-life players.
EA Mobile adds that prior to kickoff of the NFL regular season, it will introduce new Madden NFL 11 for iPad features like multiplayer gameplay and retro-style Vintage Voltage Football. The firm also announced editions tailored for the iPod touch and feature phones, adding a version customized for Google's Android smartphone platform is in the pipeline as well.
So named after legendary NFL coach and broadcaster John Madden and first introduced in 1988 via Apple II computers, Madden NFL remains one of the most influential and enduring videogame franchises of all time. As of 2010, Electronic Arts has sold more than 85 million copies of the game, ringing up over $3 billion in total sales.
