eBay debuts Deals application for iPhone

Tools

Online auction kingpin eBay announced the launch of its new Deals application for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch, promising a constant stream of bargains spanning across hundreds of millions of seller listings. Boasting customizable search features and PayPal integration, the free Deals app enables users to create personalized eBay searches on the fly, highlighting preloaded categories like apparel and games--all listings featured in the application have less than four hours of listing time remaining, zero bids, no reserve price and free/fixed shipping calculated into the total cost. In addition, Deals includes built-in integration with social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter, enabling bidders to share their shopping activities with friends.

eBay adds that consumers are expected to spend more than $500 million purchasing merchandise via eBay mobile apps by the end of 2009. The original eBay app for iPhone, introduced a year ago, now tops 5 million downloads--consumers make a mobile eBay purchase every two seconds.
