eBay launches new seller apps for iPhone
Online marketplace eBay announced the introduction of two free iPhone applications enabling users to more efficiently list items for
sale from their handset. With the new eBay Selling App, users can list items for sale in under 60 seconds--sellers can determine average selling prices of similar items by researching categories or specifying keywords, then use their iPhone camera to shoot and upload photos of the product in question. eBay also launched the Classified App, which targets iPhone users' location to enable both sellers and buyers to search and browse items available in their immediate vicinity.
eBay reports that almost 8 million users have now downloaded its original iPhone application, with consumers now purchasing an item every two seconds via eBay mobile services. The firm adds that its mobile gross merchandise value in on pace to reach $1.5 billion in 2010, more than double its 2009 GMV.
