Endemol inks deal for JoeCartoon

Reality television producer Endemol USA announced its acquisition of animated content developer JoeCartoon.com. Financial terms were not disclosed. JoeCartoon remains best known for its 1999 web sensation "Frog in a Blender," reportedly viewed more than 90 million times--Endemol said it plans to "significantly expand JoeCartoon's Web presence and develop specific content packages for mobile operators around the world," noting its use of Flash animation makes its existing content readily adaptable to the wireless platform. Endemol added it will revamp the JoeCartoon website, eyeing a relaunch by late June. The producer also plans a television pilot based on JoeCartoon properties.
