ESPN Fantasy Football launches on iPhone
With the 2009 National Football Season kicking off tonight (and not a moment too soon), sports media giant ESPN announced the launch of a new application enabling ESPN Fantasy Football players to manage their teams and leagues via iPhone and iPod touch devices. The $4.99 app--informally announced at an ESPN media event last month--offers fantasy gamers tools to execute trades, pick up free agents and waiver-wire castoffs, and tinker with their rosters; fans may also input non-ESPN leagues and teams to follow player performance. In addition, ESPN Fantasy Football boasts live scores and stats, personalized alerts in the event of last-minute injury updates and lineup changes, and ESPN BottomLine headline updates.
ESPN Fantasy Football follows on the heels of the ESPN Fantasy Football Draft Kit app, which debuted on Aug. 1 and racked up more than 350,000 App Store downloads in the month to follow. The ESPN ScoreCenter application, which launched in June, now tops the 2.2 million download mark, with ESPN Zoom (formerly ESPN Cameraman) closing in on the 2 million milestone.
