ESPN Mobile TV touts live Winter X Games 15 slate
With its annual Winter X Games extreme sports competition kicking off January 27, sports media kingpin ESPN said it will broadcast 23 hours of live coverage across its ESPN Mobile TV platform, additionally introducing a complementary mobile application optimized for iOS and Android devices. Winter X Games 15, taking place in Aspen, Colo., features action sports like skiing, snowboarding and snowmobiling; along with its live programming slate, ESPN Mobile TV will simulcast nightly highlight shows, and feature encore content from Winter X Games 14. ESPN Mobile TV will also feature interactive content like text voting opportunities and news alerts. The free Winter X Games 15 mobile app boasts complete venue info, customizable schedules, athlete bios, results and photo galleries.
Last year, ESPN's Winter X Games 14 coverage recorded the network's best Winter X Games ratings to date. On flagship channel ESPN, the event averaged a 1.2 rating, 1,147,000 homes and 1,628,000 viewers, while on sister channel ESPN2, Winter X Games 14 averaged a 0.5 rating, 465,000 homes and 635,000 viewers.
