Ex-'Newsweek' president named Buzzwire CEO
Mobile web and video services provider Buzzwire announced it had named former Newsweek president and worldwide publisher Greg Osberg CEO. Buzzwire founder and outgoing CEO Andrew MacFarlane will remain as chairman and chief product officer, and will spearhead product strategy and delivery efforts.
During his Newsweek tenure, Osberg relaunched the magazine's Newsweek.com website and put together a new agreement with MSN and MSNBC.com, implementing strategies that increased site traffic an average of 35 percent annually. Prior to joining Newsweek, Osberg held a series of senior-level positions with The Washington Post--he joined the paper following a stint as president of sales and marketing of CNET. Osberg also has maintained senior advertising positions at US News & World Report and Chilton Publishing. Buzzwire powers Verizon's m.vcast video effort as well as viral video services for AT&T and Alltel.
