Ex-Yahoo Mobile exec Lazar named Taptu president

Tools

Mobile search engine Taptu announced the addition of former Yahoo Mobile Europe managing director Mitch Lazar as its new president and COO, a move coinciding with the firm's expansion into the U.S. market. Lazar, who joined the Taptu board in March 2010, will head up the company's new Denver offices, driving U.S. business development, marketing and product management. Lazar previously supervised Yahoo's mobile efforts in the U.K., France, Germany, Italy and Spain--he joined Yahoo in 2005 after a 12 year stint with Time Warner, spearheading AOL and Turner Broadcasting's respective mobile efforts.

The Taptu search engine is optimized for touchscreen devices, indexing millions of mobile websites, applications and images. Downloadable applications are available from Apple's App Store and Google's Android Market.
