Facebook for iPhone 3.0 poised for release

Social networking giant Facebook is poised to introduce the latest update of its iPhone application, debuting a host of new features including page updating, video uploading and an enhanced News Feed. Inside Facebook reports that Facebook engineer Joe Hewitt, the developer of the iPhone app, writes on Twitter that Facebook for iPhone 3.0 was submitted to Apple for approval late last week. Additional new features are slated to include a revamped homepage, Events (including the ability to RSVP), Notes, zooming into photos and calling/texting directly from the Friends page.

The current incarnation of the Facebook for iPhone app boasts close to 12 million monthly active users--nearly 25 percent of all iPhone owners utilize the application.
