Fandango debuts Mobile Ticket program
Digital movie ticket retailer Fandango announced the introduction of Mobile Ticket, a new barcode-based solution spanning across eight U.S. trial markets. According to Fandango, Mobile Ticket reformats traditional cinema passes as barcodes, and transmits them directly to consumers' phones--upon arrival at the theater, the barcode is scanned by ticket-takers, enabling moviegoers to bypass box-office windows and kiosks. Mobile Ticket will initially roll out in more than 100 screens in the Reading Cinemas circuit, including New York's Angelika Film Center and City Cinemas 1, 2 & 3.
Fandango notes that Mobile Ticket is optimized for most operator networks, and does not require a smartphone. Additional markets and theaters are planned.
