Fandango premieres iPad moviegoing app

Movie ticketing and information provider Fandango launched a free application for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iPad tablet, promising a wealth of video clips, photos, trailers and exclusive features that maximize the device's large, high-definition display. Features include "The Pulse," which Fandango describes as a "visual representation of the hottest ticket sellers," viewable in both list and map formats; movie reviews from both professional critics and fans, as well as cinema-related tweets; and map integration to help users identify nearby title availability, theaters and showtimes, complete with tickets.

Comcast-owned Fandango sells tickets to more than 16,000 screens nationwide. Consumers may pick up their tickets via in-theater kiosks or printing barcode-based admissions at home.
