Fandango teams with Cingular

A few weeks ago, online movie ticket retailer Fandango announced a partnership with Sprint Nextel to move its online ticketing to the mobile phone. Now it's adding another carrier, Cingular. Crisp Wireless helped Fandango enable the service, which sees users accessing mobile.fandango.com on their handsets. Users can also text Fandango for showtimes, ticket availability and other information.

Fandango's service is an ideal one for the mobile and should cut down on waiting in line at the box office. Also, the carriers had the foresight to offer the service free (data charges apply, of course). Fandango already has partnerships with TiVo, Tribune Media Services and Amazon's IMDb.com. Rival Movietickets.com announced a deal earlier in the week with Yahoo for an exclusive partnership with the company's movie site.
