Zynga, the social-gaming company behind FarmVille and Words with Friends, filed its initial public offering with the Securities and Exchange Commission, revealing its games have 60 million daily active users and 232 million monthly active users. Zynga reported revenue of $597 million in 2010.

Zynga's Farmville

Zynga, creator of social games including Farmville (pictured), filed for a $1 billion IPO.

Zynga, founded just five years ago, is hoping to raise $1 billion in the IPO, according to Bloomberg.

Zynga offers games for social networks and mobile platforms. Hanging with Friends and Zynga Poker both are regularly featured in the Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) App Store's Top Grossing Apps section. Zynga makes money in mobile from ad-supported free apps, premium apps (without ads) and in-app downloads.

In its filing, Zynga reported it is committed to growing its mobile presence. "We believe there is a large opportunity to extend our brand and games to mobile platforms such as Apple iOS and Google Android. We will continue to make our games accessible on a large number of mobile and other Internet-connected devices and invest in developing and acquiring mobile development talent, technologies and content. Our DAUs (daily active users) on mobile platforms grew more than ten-fold from November 2010 to June 2011."
