FAST, Rakuten partner for mobile search

Search technologies provider Fast Search & Transfer and Japanese ecommerce provider Rakuten announced a joint venture to develop and provide mobile search and advertising services to the Japanese market. Dubbed Rakuten FAST Mobile Search, the venture will combine FAST's mobile and advertising technology with Rakuten's commerce, media and payment services--the mobile search services will initially roll out via Rakuten mobile sites this year, and will later be offered to third parties on an OEM basis. FAST and Rakuten added they plan to collaborate on additional mobile business and technology development.
