Firefox 4 Beta for Android boosts performance, stability
Open-source software development initiative Mozilla introduced the latest version of its Firefox 4 Beta mobile web browser
for Android and Maemo smartphones, promising improved stability and performance. According to The Mozilla Blog, Firefox 4 Beta enhances responsiveness to panning and zooming, along with faster start-up time and improved Javascript performance, translating to accelerated page loading. Also new: "Major stability improvements."
Mozilla first launched Firefox 4 beta for mobile in October 2010. The browser incorporates desktop features like Firefox Sync (touting a seamless browsing experience between the desktop and smartphone) and the Awesome Bar (offering access to recent browsing history, bookmarks and tabs). Mozilla encourages developers to build their own Firefox Add-ons mobile apps by leveraging web technologies including HTML5, CSS and JavaScript.
