Firethorn launches mobile banking app for Android
Qualcomm-owned mobile banking and payments enabler Firethorn announced the launch of a new application optimized for Android smartphones. According to Firethorn, the app capitalizes on Android's open operating system to enable consumers to securely access and manage their finances, including checking balances and transaction history, transferring funds, receiving offers, viewing and paying bills, and tracking rewards points. The application, customized for T-Mobile USA's G1, boasts single-PIN access to accounts with multiple providers--Firethorn adds that the app will also offer financial institutions greater efficiencies in sending customers SMS alerts, affording cross-promotional opportunities to offer CD rates, mortgage loans and credit cards. Firethorn also promises financial partners end-to-end customer support and secure application hosting.
