Flickr debuts official iPhone application
User-generated image and video hosting services provider Flickr released a content sharing application for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch, enabling users to upload, view and geo-tag their photos and videos. In addition, iPhone users may search and view contacts' submissions and make comments, as well as search photos from across the globe according to subject, people or places. The free Flickr app is available in languages including English, Chinese, French and Catalan.
In mid-August, the iPhone edged past Canon's high-performance Digital Rebel XTi to become the most popular camera among Flickr users. The Los Angeles Times reported that the iPhone and its 3-megapixel camera had been battling for months with the Canon Digital Rebel XSi and the Nikon D80 for second place on Flickr's list of most popular cameras--the site tracks the number of members who have uploaded at least one photo or video with a particular camera on a given day over the last year.
