Forecast: Mobile payment to top $36B by 2011
Strategy Analytics predicts that more than $36 billion in sales will be conducted via contact-less payments through mobile phones by 2011. To reach this figure, greater collaboration between banks, operators, handset manufacturers and credit companies is needed, but the report notes that major handset vendors like Motorola and Nokia are actively engaging in trials to solve these challenges.
