Forecast: More than 1.4B mobile messages on Inauguration Day

Tools

Citing the continued rise in mobile messaging use, the historic nature of the event and President-elect Barack Obama's strong ties to the mobile platform, network infrastructure services provider VeriSign predicts users will transmit more than 1.4 billion mobile messages on Inauguration Day, Jan. 20. If VeriSign's prediction proves correct, the deluge of messages will shatter the current single-day mark of 803 million messages, set on Election Day 2008. VeriSign adds that it recently set a new single-hour record of 82 million mobile messages on New Year's Eve as the clock struck midnight in the Eastern Time zone.
