Fox Mobile premieres Bitbop beta on BlackBerry

Fox Mobile Group quietly rolled out the beta release of its Bitbop mobile video service, first announced in late March. Available across the BlackBerry Bold 9000, Bold 9700, Curve 8900 and Tour 9630 smartphones, with additional handsets in the pipeline, the Hulu-like Bitbop offers a catalog of full-length television programs for streaming or temporary download; the service supports both 3G and WiFi. At the time Bitbop was first announced, Fox Mobile promised "exciting programming from numerous top-notch content partners," but did not divulge specific--the beta service includes content from networks including NBC, Fox, CBS and FX, highlighted by Glee, Justified, Friday Night Lights and The Office. Feature-length films are also planned, but the Bitbop website asks users to "Stay tuned," promising titles are coming soon.
