FreemantleMedia's mobile channel 'Atomic Wedgie'

Tools

FreemantleMedia, the TV production outfit perhaps most famously known for bringing the world American Idol, has teamed with Mobliss to create a distinctively made-for-mobile TV channel for the Sprint network called "Atomic Wedgie." Programming includes both original content as well as clips from the vast FreemantleMedia catalog, repurposed into short mobile snippits, including Baywatch Babes, TV Bloopers and British TV series.

FreemantleMedia has access to more than 9,000 hours of TV archives, and says it plans to mine it all for Atomic Wedgie content. What's interesting is the company is not simply re-airing old shows, but rather extracting the humorous clips from them into a sort of "best-of" compilation mix they hope is more suitable for mobile phones. Sprint customers can subscribe to "Atomic Wedgie" for $5 a month.
