Gameloft cancels 'March of Heroes' for iOS
Game developer Gameloft has cancelled its highly anticipated upcoming title for Apple's (NASDAQ:AAPL) iOS platform, March of Heroes, which would have been the company's first first-person shooter using the Unreal Engine 3. Gameloft made the announcement Sept. 12 on Twitter and followed up with this message:

"Hi everyone, we know we have a big community of FPS fans here... so we are very sorry to announce that we will not be releasing March of Heroes. Our developers will be focusing on developing various awesome games in the months to come and working on making them even better. Fans of March of Heroes should definitely look forward to the powerful Modern Combat 3."
Epic Games released its Unreal Engine 3 in 2010 for its Infinity Blade game, and Gameloft signed on with Epic to lease the technology for its own games.
As to why Gameloft cancelled March of Heroes, Gameloft has not released a clear statement.
"We would prefer that our developers continue to focus on developing awesome games for 2012 as well as making them better than ever before," said Jessica Lewinstein, corporate PR manager for Gameloft.
Gameloft said its March of Heroes cancellation won't affect its plans to support the Unreal engine.
"Gameloft is not actually cancelling our work on the Unreal Engine and are expecting to release games using it, starting 2012," said Lewinstein.
